Miami Beet

Hello~ :) I hope you all enjoyed the little peek into my polishing world in the past few posts. Today I have for you one of the rarer colour shades in my collection - a red(ish) polish! This is two coats of OPI's Miami Beet. I was quite pleasantly surprised by it seeing as I wasn't expecting much, but yay, another red family polish which I like has been added to my collection! :)
Miami Beet

I'm going to be busy this upcoming week too so posts may not be as frequent. I'm actually sporting naked nails at the moment, it's been a looooong time since I haven't had polish on my nails :P. I wonder how long it'll last?

Polish spreadsheet

Although I can hardly say I'm an organised person, when it comes to nail polish, I'm super organised :P. I have a spreadsheet typed up on my laptop of all the nail polish in my collection. I thought I'd share the spreadsheet since people have been commenting on my giveaway form for some stash posts :). Photos of my stash can be seen here. There is also a tab I've added at the top of my page so that it will be easy to find this spreadsheet.

My nail polish stash :)

One of the requests in my giveaway form is to post about my nail polish stash :). I've been on a no buy since the beginning of this year (and it's working! I haven't bought any polishes even though I've been tempted on several occasions :P) so I thought now would be a good time to share my stash.

I keep my polishes in a clear rectangle container which I can shove under my bed and out of the way :P. Currently it holds about 125 bottles of polish; my untrieds are stored in another smaller container next to my bookshelf. All photos are taken indoors under natural light. They are most certainly not all colour accurate - some polishes came out fine in the photos and others were just...woah o__o. So please don't use these as references :).

My Ulta3 polishes. They are by far the cheapest polish brand I've come across in Australia, hence why I have so many of them haha.

My work station

I'm away on camp this week so this is a scheduled post amongst others :). I thought it'd be a good idea to take the opportunity to share some 'behind-the-scenes'. To kick things off I have for you today a photo of my work station. It's by no means professional; I'm a student and have to make use of what I have unlike some bloggers who can dedicate an entire room to nail polish *jealous* :P.
work station

This table is right next to my study table - it's actually a little distracting since I'm always tempted to do my nails when I'm meant to be studying :P. I like to keep some nail art tools at hand in case the urge pops up to do some nail art haha. I also use a placemat to protect the table top while I paint my nails. Like I said, it's not much but I do like it and enjoy doing my nails even more now that I have a work station hehe. Before this I used to do my nails on my study table which was just plain annoying since I'd have my laptop nearby and I'd be paranoid I'd spill things onto it.

I'll have a couple of stash related posts up later on this week!

Water marbling with holos

Hello~^^ I tried water marbling the other day with some holos; lets just say that they dry extremely fast o__o! I started off with one coat of Color Club's Wild at Heart as the base colour and then marbled with Revvvolution and Wild at Heart. Photos holding the polish bottle are taken indoors under natural light, the other two taken under sunlight.

My favourite nails are the middle and ring fingers~

I'll be going away for the next few days so some scheduled posts should be on the way.

Some 3D nail art

Earlier today, I saw Katrina's recent mani and had the urge to pull out my rhinestones and do something with them too :P. I used two coats of China Glaze's Light as air and Ulta3's spring shower in the mani. My topcoat totally bubbled on my left hand which is why I'm showing my right hand. It's not as apparent irl, but my camera picks up the tiniest detail - not handy this time. Photo was taken indoors with flash.

I like that it spices up the manicure but is so simple at the same time :). I need to use my rhinestones and pearls more often!

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms - Diamond

Woooo, another gorgeous holo polish! :) Following the release of China Glaze's Tronica Collection, I thought I'd jump onto the holo bandwagon and show you an old but beautiful polish by Sally Hansen.
Diamond

Diamond is a silver holo polish with scattered holo effects. It's also quite thin and I could have probably used a third coat in my mani. The drying time however, was longer than usual (compared to my previous experiences with holo polishes) and since I needed to sleep, I applied a top coat over the polish even though I hadn't intended to do so initially. I took a gazillion photos when the sun finally peeped out from behind the clouds for five minutes, but narrowed down to only sharing four photos :P.

Definitely click the photos to see Diamond in its fullest glory!

The photo below shows Diamond blurred so you can see the rainbow of colours. Isn't this polish just amazing? *___*

Apologies and an award

Firstly, I'm really sorry for the lack of posts these days - I've been extremely busy this week what with a concert and summer course to study for.

I have been tagged by Jen over at Nail Polish Addiction Anonymous, Melanie at The Color PaletteAlhrayth and LadyLuck. Thanks so much for the award ladies!

These are the rules for this award:
1. Thank and link the person who gave you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
4. Contact these bloggers to tell them about this award!

1. I think first and foremost, I need to spazz a little about the concert I attended on Wednesday :P. You can skip this if you're not into Kpop haha. Arirang organised a Korea-Australia Friendship Concert of which SHINee was one of the performers for, so I spent the whole of Wednesday out at the city waiting in lines for tickets and seats XD. Was the waiting and leg/feet pains worth it? Definitely yes! SHINee, Son Ho Young and Shin Seung Hun were the Korean performers and omg, they were brilliant! If you're interested, I've got some fancams and a fanaccount written up; just let me know and I'll email you the links :).

2. Prior to nail polish, I was a HUGE fan of Kpop. While I'm not such a hardcore fan any more and don't stalk forums as much, I still love Kpop loads ♥

3. I really want to travel the world and see new things. The Earth is so big and I'm only living in a small part of it! I want to experience the different cultures - in particular, try their food xD.

4. I ADORE kids and really enjoy hanging out with them and just seeing them laugh and have fun. I love spending time with them and watching them grow and mature over time :).

5. I absolutely can not stand noise or light when I sleep at night. Ticking clocks frustrate me the most :P.

6. Procrastination is a big problem for me. Whenever I plan time for assignments, I add in time to procrastinate too XD. If I just cut it out, it'll probably take me half the time to finish the assignment ;~;

7. I prefer winter over summer here in Australia. My theory is, you can always layer on more clothes, but you can only strip to the bare minimum haha.

And now I tag:

Toesthattwinkle
Cosmetic Cupcake
NAILYORKCITY
Silence is Loud
Katrina's Nail Blog

+ any one else who wants to do this :P. I'm lazy and really need to get back to studying so...yeah haha.

Dot dot and dot

L.A. Colors is not a readily available polish brand for me in Australia which was why I was so excited when I spotted some of its polishes in a dollar shop a few months ago. One of the bottles I happened to pick up was Jungle Fever, a pretty teal shade. First photo is taken indoors under natural light and the second indoors with flash.
Jungle Fever
Whilst I like the colour I can't say much for the polish. Application was average but it was the staining of my nails which I wasn't too fond of. Good thing Google is our friend and I made use of the toothpaste method to remove most of the stains :).

I also tried some (fail) art before I removed my mani. While I like the design, it didn't translate too well from my head to my nails. I think I'll change it around a bit for future designs, I find the dots add a new dimension to the manicure.

Crystal, the mermaid?

Of all the gorgeous polishes there are out there, I think this is a must have. Zoya's Crystal was the stand out from their Flame collection and I'm so glad I caved in to buy this. I'm not big on blue polishes, but boy is it worthwhile to get your hands on this beauty!

I applied three coats of Crystal and sealed it with a top coat. Photo was taken indoors under natural light.

If you think this is a stunner from the photo, I highly, highly recommend you purchase this polish. It's soooo beautiful and looks a hundred times better in real life. Can you tell I'm in love? :P The copper flecks are amazing and gives the polish such a mermaid-y look.

December haul

December was a quiet month for me, I needed to recuperate from my splurging spree in November haha. My mum came back from her trip to Hong Kong, so I also got my hands on some lovely international polishes ^^. The first two photos are taken indoors under natural light and the Sally Hansen Nail Prisms are taken indoors with flash.
Dec haul1

Firstly, the polishes from Hong Kong :). I didn't specify which polishes to buy - just the brand and colour suggestions - so these were my mum's choices. I'm loving the Golden Rose polishes, the mini bottles look so cute next to the Alessandro. She also bought what she thought was a grey polish, but it turned out to be a matte top coat lol. I love my mum ♥

Golden Rose 36, 40, 28 and Alessandro International 348

And some lovelies from Paddy's market :D.

Ooh, I also bought Claires Mood Polish in Calm/Wild which I forgot to take a photo of.

Now with new collections coming out, I won't feel as guilty spending money on them! :P I'm especially eyeing China Glaze's Anchors Away collection, what about you?

Skittles with flakies

After seeing 'chelle's mani, I knew I had to do some skittling of my own :). The polishes I used from thumb to pinky: Ulta3's watermelon, spring fling, spring blossom, China Glaze's Re-Fresh Mint and Ulta3's spring shower. I applied three coats of polish on my index to pinky and two coats on my thumb. Photo was taken with flash indoors, but I tweaked it a bit in photoshop to make the polishes more colour accurate.
skittle flakes
I layered Nubar 2010 over the top to add a little something more to the mani. I think it looks best layered over the yellow ^^

Flower nail art

I've finallyyyyyyyyyyy attempted some nail art again after almost a month. And I've totally lost my touch, the flowers don't look too brilliant. Still, I like the colour combination and I think the rhinestones add a little elegance to the manicure ^^. You can see that the flower on my pointer looks mutated; I accidentally smudged it somehow and didn't realise it until I looked at the photos. And by then, it was too late :P.

I used two coats OPI's Parlez-vous OPI? as the base colour on my thumb, pointer, middle and pinky. On my ring finger, I applied two coats of China Glaze's Light as air. I then swapped the polish colours for the flowers - Parlez-vous for the ring finger and Light as air for the other four nails. Photos are not colour accurate as they were taken indoors with flash.

If it weren't for the pointer nail, I'd be quite happy with this manicure; it looks pretty at a distance anyway :).

Entering 2011 with a 'bling'

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a blast bringing in the new year; I spent the last few hours of 2010 playing mahjong with family friends before settling back to watch the fantastic fireworks display. I decided to wave in 2011 with some flashy nails and what better polish can we find than glitter for this? :)

This is three thin coats of Color Club's Magic Attraction and sealed with a top coat. I looooooove this polish and I can't believe it's taken me so long to use this in a full manicure. It's so bling and eyecatching, LOVE IT! I received several compliments on this :).

First photo is taken under sunlight and the following taken indoors with flash.
