Press release: OPI The Skyfall collection

Hi everyone! This hot little press release landed in my inbox and I knew I had to post about it asap :D

Bond…James Bond!

Move over Pussy Galore, OPI's new 007 range of lacquer, Skyfall is definitely shaken but not stirred!

OPI celebrates 50 years of the style, swagger and the mystique associated with Bond 007 movies through the release of a very special James Bond 007 range, Skyfall.  Inspired by the film’s blend of glamour and danger, the OPI Skyfall Collection consists of 12 dangerously stunning nail lacquers with each shade titled after one of the box office smash hit 007 movies. As with all OPI movie collaborations, the colours are a perfect match to their namesake.

The next highly-anticipated twenty-third instalment of the 007 James Bond movies, Skyfall, stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and new bond girl Bérénice Marlohe.  In the movie Bond girl, actress Bérénice Marlohe wears two of OPI’s Skyfall shades, Skyfall, a rich shade of maroon chocolate, painted on top of the nail and GoldenEye, a shimmering gold, painted on the undersides.  This highly-anticipated twenty-third installment SkyFall, opens in cinemas nationwide on 22nd November, 2012.

From metallic and glitter finishes to jewel tones and almost black, these lacquers capture the film’s glamorous appeal and sophistication.

Get Bonded in this movie title in this magnificent maroon chocolate shade, Skyfall.   Be assured that all eyes will be upon you when you wear this glorious metallic gold, GoldenEye.

You will feel all red and romantic as you fantasize about your own secret agent when wearing, The Spy Who Loved Me.  This high-rolling plum is fit for royalty, Casino Royale.

You Only Live Twice, a rich high-shimmer magenta, a once-in-a-lifetime find. You can only live in the moment in this hot and lively red, Die Another Day.

Burn the candles at both ends in this almost black shade, Live & Let Die. This eternally intense purple will live forever, Tomorrow Never Dies.

When duty calls, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, you will command attention in this misty-green pewter.  A courageous multi-hued confetti glitter that sparkles 24/007, The Living Daylights.

Drive your fastest car towards this exhilarating metallic grey, Moonraker.  This rose pewter shade is as addictive as it is beautiful, The World is Not Enough.

As with all OPI nail lacquers, these shades inspired by Skyfall contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.

The Skyfall Collection will be available from mid September at selected beauty salons, spas, and David Jones nationally, $19.95 RRP incl. GST. For your nearest OPI stockists contact 1800 358 999 or visit www.opi.net.au.

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2012

Hellooooo! I'm super excited to post this - I've joined the piCture pOlish's Blog Fest 2012 this year! :D Depending on where you live, you should start seeing other bloggers post about piCture pOlish throughout July 30th. I have two exciting new shades to show you all today, get ready to be BLOWN AWAY cos they're mighty amazing ♥

Check out the awesome bottles! These are my first piCture pOlish and I'm soooooo in love with the flat rectangular bottle shape. Plus these shades have the company's QR labels on it so just scan it with your phone and you will be taken to the piCture pOlish website or its Network website (depending on place of purchase).

First up is Dorothy, part of the Mesh line and is now available on the  piCture pOlish website. This is a beautiful red based polish filled with silver glitter. I love how lively the glitter looks when paired with the red base! Super opaque and brilliant application - it simply flowed onto my nails and yep, there's no clean up in my photos. Which show two coats of Dorothy, by the way.

The silver glitter comes out more in the sun, check it out!

Blurry photo to show the depth of this polish - LOVE! ♥

Next is Demeter, a brown polish with holographic glitter particles. This polish is part of the Collaboration collection and created by the Girls at piCture pOlish and Katie from Harlow & Co. It is sold exclusively on both websites!

I was confused at first as to whether it was glitter or holographic particles in the polish. Because it was so smooth though, I gathered it was large holographic particles swimming in the brown base. Again, two flawless coats. I love the piCture pOlish brush too. It's thin, but applies so well. No clean up required! :)

Indoors, natural light.

What can I say, my introduction to piCture pOlish has blown me away! I love their bottles, flawless application and creative shades. I'll be taking the plunge with this brand, that's for sure!

Thank you to the Girls at piCture pOlish for the opportunity to be a part of Blog Fest 2012. May there be many more to come! <3

Do you lilac glitter flakes?

Hello hello! Okay, I'm lame. What can I say? :P To make up for it, I'll keep this short and sweet.

I  applied two coats of OPI Do you lilac it onto my nails before layering a coat of OPI I lily love you on top. I lily love you has the lightest pink tinge in its base and this added a little more red to Do you lilac it.

Royal plum flakey

Hi ladies! I was in the mood for some flakey layering the other day so I decided to grab a plum purple shade as a base colour for it. Can I say it was instant love! <3

I started off with two coats of Maybelline Colorama Dark plum and then layered a coat of Nubar 2010 over it. My bottle is really starting to show signs of use, I only have half of it left! Good thing I have a back up bottle of this gorgeous polish ;)

Soft and feathery nail art

Hello hello~ I felt like a soft manicure when I sat down to do my nails and so decided to try out the feather design I saw over at Nature Nails. I love stalking the blog - the lady behind it is so amazing and has such gorgeous nail art. Totally green with envy at her skills! My feathers are no where near as delicate looking at hers but I'm pleased with the result for a first timer. Actually, my right thumb looks even better so what does that say about my left hand skills! :P

I started with two coats of OPI Did you 'ear about Van Gough and then used my white acrylic paint for the feather. I then layered with OPI Pirouette my whistle, taking inspiration from the original manicure :)

Hopefully, my feathers will look more like feathers one day.... ;)

Have you tried this look before? What do you think of it?

Musical...nails? :)

Hi ladies! While watching a Hong Kong drama, I was inspired by the protagonist's cello playing and decided to go about creating some musical nails! I turned to the world wide web for some music images and came across this image so I decided to try and translate it onto my nails.

I started off with two coats of Australis Blackmail. For my index and pinky, I layered two coats of Australis Speck-tacular. I imagine the flakey to be sound waves, each colour representing a different pitch. Oh I do think I'm becoming quite the artist! *ahem* ;)

I stamped the piano image from plate CK-05 (which can be found from Born Pretty Store) on my ring and thumb, before dabbing on more Speck-tacular on the free black areas. For my middle finger, I used white acrylic paint to draw the musical notations before going over it in colours to match the flakey nails.

(don't mind the thumb, I got a little too happy with the brush and remover)

Despite the wobbly nail art (I was becoming quite hungry by the time I got to that stage!), I quite like this manicure. And hey, practice makes perfect, yes? I'm planning on doing as much free hand nail art as possibly during my break! :)

What do you think of these nails?

Thanks for reading.

Review: Born Pretty Store nail wheel (and some nail art)

Hello everyone :) Since getting more into nail art, I thought I would try out my ideas on some fake nails before moving onto my own nails. This way, it saves me the trouble of removing the nail polish when the art flops... :P

And of course, this is where the Born Pretty Store nail wheel comes in. How handy to have my nail art all on one wheel!

nail wheels1

nail wheels2

The set of 10 nail wheels can be purchased for $6.15. You can see how I've barely made a dent to my wheel stash with some of my nail art designs (of course, that's because I haven't really done much yet :P). I know some ladies like to swatch their stash of nail polish on nail wheels but I personally cannot stand the disorder which will ensue when I finish a wheel of a certain colour and shade, and then another polish pops up. Which is why I use swatch sticks, but I'll save that for another post :) So for me, nail wheels are for nail art!

nail wheels3

nail wheels4

Can you tell I'm getting pretty into the one-stroke art technique? :) I can't wait to fill out the rest of the wheel and move onto my next one :D

Born Pretty Store provides a variety of nail art goodies as well as accessories. They offer free international shipping no matter how little or much you purchase. And accompanied with my 10% discount code PIJ61, you're armed and ready for a bargain :D

Do you use nail wheels and what for?
