Off Topic: Beyonce Rise Perfume review

Hi ladies! Today, I have something a little different to what I usually post about, but rest assured there are still nails in this post ;)

I recently had the opportunity to try out Beyonce's newest fragrance Rise, and according to her, “The spirit of Rise encourages women to be all that we are.”

Rise is definitely not a light, fruity scent. It screams sophisticated and intense, and personally for me, one which I would wear for a night out. I am more of a light and sweet fragrance girl - along the lines of Marc Jacobs' Honey.

When you first wear Rise, you will be hit with notes of Italian Bergamot, Golden Apricot and Iced Basil Sorbet. As the perfume settles in, you will discover the main notes to be a blend of Gold Symphony Orchid, Freesia Blossom and Natural Jasmine Sambac. Rounding up the fragrance at the base are Autumn Woods Accord, Cashmere Musk and Vetiver.

I found the wear time of Rise to be rather short, averaging around 3-4 hours.

My nails were inspired by the simple, but beautiful packaging of the perfume. I loved the black and gold combination and just had to match my nails to it :P

Pinky: Two coats of OPI My favorite ornament, sans top coat. The gritty finish gave a nice twist to the overall manicure.
Ring: Two coats of Ulta3 Black satin, layered with Glitter Gal Galaxy holo top coat.
Middle: Two coats of Helly Kitty Golden girl.
Index & thumb: Two coats of Black  satin with a sponged gold tip using Golden girl.

Nfu Oh #52

Hello! :) I think I've always worn my Nfo Oh flakies layered, so when I went to pull out #52 to wear, I decided to try it out by itself. This was three coats and I love how the transparent helps draw the eye's attention to the beautiful flakies.

Swatches & review: Australis Winter shades 2014

Hi ladies! Here down under, we're slowly settling into our cooler months, so what better time than now to pull out the darker, richer shades of winter? Australian brand Australis has recently released four shades to suit the winter season.

Two coats of Sittin on a cloud. I was a little underwhelmed by this, as I expected an off white shade. Still, it's a simple white shade, which had an easy formula to work with.

Spinnin my candy is a soft pink shade. If you're looking to build the pink in your stash, this one is a nice and safe fairy floss pink. The formula was a little thin and my swatch shows three coats.

Oh my nudie is a beautiful light chocolate brown. It looks horrendous against my skin, but I can see some chocolate nail art being inspired from this :) Love the gorgeous shimmer in this too! Two coats.

Berry in a hurry is a safe, berry shade. Love the squishy jelly in this, but again, nothing special about it. It's a stainer too, so be careful when applying and make sure you use a base coat! Two coats.

These shades are now available nationwide at Priceline Big W and selected pharmacies. Each bottle retails for $7.95.

Shopping the Stash: S for Skinfood

Hello there. For the letter S, I decided to pull out an Asian brand which I haven't worn a lot - Skinfood! Too bad this pretty purple shimmer doesn't have a proper name, it simply goes by the name of VI408. Creative, I know :P

ABC_Skinfood1

I layered over it one thick coat of OPI In true Stefani fashion. The glitter really comes to life under direct sunlight!

Some blog changes :)

Hello everyone! If you've been a follower of my blog for awhile, you will know that Polish Infatuated started off as a place to share my nail polish hobby. Whilst this will remain the core focus of my blog, I will also begin to share other beauty related posts. Over the past year or so I have been exploring the larger beauty niche and have developed an interest in it, and now that I feel a little more confident, I hope to share my experiences here as well.

With this new blog direction, I have spent the last week working on the new look of Polish Infatuated. I want to take this opportunity to thank Rose over at Every Little Polish for allowing bloggers to use her beautiful social media icons, as well as providing instructions on how to create the rounded profile picture. Please check out her blog resources tab for more information.

With this new layout, I am hoping that it will be easier to navigate Polish Infatuated. I have created tabs along the top to help readers browse by the category they are interested in. Of course, with the focus of my blog being nails, I have created a whole separate tag dedicated to different nail art techniques.

Please be patient with me as I am still in the process of tagging all my old posts placing them into the correct categories - with almost 700 posts written to date, this will take me a fair amount of time!

I hope you will join me as I take Polish Infatuated into a new direction :)

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Live Love Carnival Milky way

Hi ladies! :) One of my favourites from OPI's Brazil collection is Live Love Carnival, so I just had to pull out this beautiful coral to use a few weeks back. I also layered a coat of Alanna Renee Milky way over it for the gorgeous iridescent glitter finish.

A studded naked canvas

Hello ladies. I decided to combine some neutral and black shades to create a chic way to wear black. The neutral and off white shade is Orly Naked canvas and the black is OPI 4 in the morning. I decided to layer Essence Make it golden over Naked canvas as an accent on my middle finger. To match the gold accent, I also placed some studs on my pinky & index.

Swatches & review: Ulta3 Lip Paint

Hi everyone! Today, I have something a little bit different - it's a non-nail related post. I have been dabbling a lot more into makeup for awhile now and would love to share my experience too. Whilst Polish Infatuated started off as a nail polish focused blog, I think a lot of readers are also interested in makeup, which is why I have finally decided to post about other beauty products too. Don't worry, this blog will definitely remain focused on nail polish, but I'll also be posting about makeup every now and then :)

So, onto the lippies! I have been rather obsessed with colours this past summer and the Ulta3 Lip Paints arrived just in time before the season ended! From top to bottom: Manic Mauve, Eclectic Orange, Extreme Pink, Radical Red, Loud Purple, Expressive Fuchsia.

These lip glosses are bold and very opaque - they're definitely not for the faint of heart! The lip glosses come with a doe foot applicator that I was pleasantly surprised with, considering the super affordable $5.95 price point. When the gloss is applied, I felt a soothing cooling sensation, which I think is due to the peppermint oil present.

Here is a quick swatch of each shade on my arm. Manic Mauve is definitely the 'safest' shade of the lot and was the one I was drawn to many times when I first tried them on. Expressive Fuchsia has really caught my attention recently though, and I find myself always reaching for it now.

Are you a fan of bold lippies? What are some good recommendations? :)

Thanks for reading!
